Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
I don't know about you, but I grew up in a faith that claimed to be and have THE TRUTH. It was relatively exclusive in that this particular religion made the same claim as Jesus did in the verse quoted above. If you believe any doctrine other than their specific set of scripture-based "First Principles", you will not be saved and able to enter into the Kingdom of God. There are several specific doctrines affiliated with this religion that I strongly agree with, and other beliefs, procedures, and expectations that I continue to question.
Hopefully one thing we can all agree on is that YOUR TRUTH is your truth and MY TRUTH is my truth. What I mean by this is similar to the psychological and philisophical concept that our perception of events is our reality.
For example, if I claim to KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt what will happen to my soul after my lungs release the Breath of Life that one final time in this Earth-bound skin suit, you would most likely call me a "dreamer" at best, or a "fraud" at worst.
And I get that completely. But if I tell you my belief is that I will be united with my Jesus in Paradise in much the same way He promised the repentant thief hanging on the cross next to His, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:43 -- Then you might accept that this is MY TRUTH (even if it isn't necessarily yours.)
What if I could assure you that there is a way to respectfully agree to disagree? What if I tell you that conflict mediation (especially with angry adolescents and young adults) is one of my God-given talents? Would you believe me?
Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream shared through his famous I HAVE A DREAM speech.
John Lennon had a dream expressed through the lyrics of his famous song IMAGINE.
Joseph had many well-known prophetic dreams which all proved to come true as historically recorded in the book of Genesis chapter 37 in The Bible.
Bart Millard as the lead singer and song-writer for MercyMe performed his dream in the popular song and movie "I Can Only Imagine."
And I'm entirely CONFIDENT you can name many other DREAMERS who have found creative ways to share their visions for a BETTER EXISTENCE as well.
You are welcome to drop a comment or send an email to share examples of other Dreamers throughout history or present day, you may identify with including your own dreams! :)
I too have a dream.
And it's related to the PEACE described in the 4th chapter of the book of Philippians.
