More... if it doesn't make me feel fantastic, fabulous, or at least comfortable, my choice is to
JUST NOT DO IT!
Obviously there are significant exceptions to this concept; at those times when it is necessary to make sacrifices -- i.e. "no pain, no gain."
...Or examples where being of service feels good because it relieves me of the bondage of self.
Today in particular I am wearing a comfortable outfit (practically like sweats to be honest.)
It's Friday, so casual attire at work is more common and accepted at my workplace.
It got me thinking about choosing function over form or comfort over fashion. Life is full of choices.
Although I greatly admire all those classy, professional women who have their hair done and their nails on point, walking confidently in corporate office suits and high heels; at my age and this season of my life, I am much more inclined to CHOOSE comfortability over all that beauty and adornment.
1 Peter 3:3-4 Your adornment must not be merely external—braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God. What I choose to eat, drink, wear, read, watch, listen to, participate in, or submerge myself in--
should ultimately make me feel wonderful...
or in today's trendy phrases-- make me feel like "I'm living my BEST LIFE!"

I read a Minimalism post like the first line above recently, and it resonated with me on a deep level. 

The simple living post was geared toward clothing specifically, and not making a purchase that doesn’t make you feel great each time you wear it.

But I am CHOOSING to take it further than clothing alone. 

Although that’s certainly a fantastic place to start.
Again, there are obvious exceptions to this mindset.

  Take each choice on a case by case basis.
Choose kindness.
Choose wisely.
Choose those experiences that are going to feel good in a way that includes integrity and self-worth with depth, as opposed to shallow or superficial instant gratification-- feel good now, pay for it later -- kinds of ways.
 

When it comes to uncomfortable workouts or ministry/service opportunities, I agree those aren’t always going to feel fabulous at the time.

But when the end result of the discomfort or sacrifice brings God all the glory;
When I’m choosing what to put inside my body or what to put on the outside of my body, it could go a long ways toward meeting my minimalist goals,  if I maintain the philosophy above.
