The Pursuit of Happiness
Pursuing your Lover
Pursue your Goals and Dreams
I often refer to our time in the “Wilderness” when my now husband and I were both single and actually living with a parent to save money for our next home after surviving divorce. This time period also happened to fall during the worldwide COVID pandemic in the infamous year 2020 when most places of business were closed to the general public and most of us were quarantined in our homes.
It gave us a lot of time to think.
Time to pray…
Surrender
Ponder life’s biggest questions
Be open to a new path and a new way of thinking
Heal from broken hearts
Recover
Express gratitude
Praise the Lover of our souls
Be pursued by same Lover of our souls
Listen
Forgive ourselves
Begin to love ourselves
Embrace spending time alone
Enjoy our own company
Pursue and Priortize Peace
Be open to Possibilities
Proceed Forward

During this time, many men pursued me online; since few people were actually interacting with other humans in person.
Often, these pursuits were international.
There were declarations of love, interest, long term intentions, plans, and dreams.
Some were clearly motivated by wanting to get their needs and desires met for their primary Love Language of Physical Touch.
Others had loftier more romantic notions of sweeping me off my feet on a magic carpet ride like Aladdin does with Jasmine in a Disney Princess fairytale; or another one to take me on a fantasy boat ride like Prince Eric does with Mermaid Ariel from yet another Disney classic.
Naturally, I enjoyed the attention, flattery, flirtations, and HOPE of True Love;
along with the same as most little girls dream of experiencing a “Happily Ever After” with my Prince Charming.
The difference this time around though (besides being in the midst of a pandemic) was that my Fairytale had already been crushed and my priorities had dramatically shifted.
I was in full blown acceptance of enjoying the rest of my life single in pursuit of GOD and peace.
I’m not talking about becoming a nun or anything quite so noble.
Rather, I had simply joyfully discovered that my happiness did not and does not depend on a man or on any other human being.
My JOY comes from the Lord.
Psalm 23
James 1
He truly is all I need to be happy in this lifetime and the next eternal one.
Everyone and everything else I get to enjoy and cherish on this perishable planet in this temporary life is simply bonus icing on the cake!
Obviously some like FAMILY are more precious to my tender heart than the above sentiment would suggest.
My Family which also include some beloved friends is of upmost importance to me and it pains me deeply to imagine this existence without them.
But GOD is my ALL in ALL!
With a clarity like never before, I NOW know without Him I would have NONE of the above.
While all these men pursuing me in the “Wilderness” talked a good game online, one stood out above all the rest.
Do you know why?
Because Actions Speak Louder than Words.
Not only did he quote Song of Solomon to me in pursuit, he took the actions of calling me everyday, flying out to meet me in person, made his long term intentions clear, and respected me and God’s Word enough to wait for sex until we were married.
He also promised to continue to pursue me throughout the rest of our marriage and our lives.
And I believe him.
My husband, like my father, is a Gentleman in every sense of the word.
He is also a strong, passionate, hard-working, compassionate, patient, grace-filled, Joy-filled, Lover of Jesus who has Biblical Priorities that I deeply respect, admire, and share.
He leads us both as one flesh through continuous prayer, reading God’s word daily, and worship in a variety of adventurous, creative-think-outside-the-box ways! ;)
Friends and Loved Ones,
God is pursuing you in similar ways.
He wants ALL of your heart!
Surrendering to GOD is still the best decision I have ever made…. He is a Promise Keeper!
Jeremiah 29:11
Psalm 37:4
Matthew 6:33
James 1:2
