First of all, I would like to acknowledge those on social media with singleness of purpose.
For those—you know who you are—
Simply
Jeeps
Poetry
Bikes
Food
Quotes
Bible Verses
Yoga
Bulldogs
Music
Fitness
Etc.

The point is that I greatly respect and admire these types of accounts and their handlers.

But as for me, all of my social media accounts reflect more of a scrapbooking kind of approach. They are the story of my Spiritual Journey as collected, displayed, and saved in the form of images, words, music, lessons learned, precious memories, and LOVE.

In the words of my husband’s friend Pastor Chris as he sat across from us at the Sundance Grill breakfast table in Grand Rapids, Michigan after I ordered Avocado Toast: “You can take the Girl out of California, but you can’t take the California out of the Girl!”

Truer words have never been spoken.

In much the same way, you can take the Jesus Girl out of the Jeep, But you can’t take the Jesus out of this Girl!

It is important to note here that our words leave a lasting impact on other people. Sometimes good and sometimes bad. The example cited above was a good one! But we’ve each experienced both kinds of influencial words in our life.

Yesterday’s message at church delivered passionately by Associate Pastor Damon Horton  was about the impact of his recently passed Momma’s words and actions.

He lovingly reminded us that God wants us to bring Him all of our deepest pain so He can transform it all into Praise…

Psalm 100

This particular blog post like my beautiful mind and other my other social media posts is going to be all over the place.  It is a reflection of how fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) I truly am…

Your words are powerful and leave a lasting impact even when you don’t even realize it.

Choose them wisely.

John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16
By Keith Urban

I'm a 45 spinning on an old Victrola
I'm a two strike swinger, I'm a Pepsi Cola
I'm a blue jean quarterback saying "I love you" to the prom queen
In a Chevy
I'm John Wayne, Superman, California
I'm a Kris Kristofferson Sunday morning
I'm a mom and daddy singing along to Don McLean
At the levee
And I'm a child of a backseat freedom, baptized by rock and roll
Marilyn Monroe and the Garden of Eden, never grow up, never grow old
Just another rebel in the great wide open, on the boulevard of broken dreams
And I learned everything I needed to know from John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16
Hey, hey
Everything I needed
That's right
I'm Mark Twain on the Mississippi
I'm Hemingway with a shot of whiskey
I'm a TV dinner on a tray trying to figure out the Wheel of Fortune
I'm a Texaco star, I'm a Gibson guitar
I'm still a teenage kid trying to go too far
I'm a jukebox waiting in a neon bar for a quarter
I'm a child of a backseat freedom, baptized by rock and roll
Marilyn Monroe and the Garden of Eden, never grow up, never grow old
Just another rebel in the great wide open, on the boulevard of broken dreams
And I learned everything I needed to know from John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16
I spent a lot of years running from believing,
Looking for another way to save my soul
The longer I live, the more I see it, there's only one way home
I'm a child of a backseat freedom, baptized by rock and roll
Marilyn Monroe and the Garden of Eden, never grow up, never grow old
Just another rebel in the great wide open, on the boulevard of broken dreams
And I learned everything I needed to know from John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16
Everything I needed
(John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16)
Everything I needed
(John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16)
That's right

Out of all the curious actions I display in a swimming pool and there are a few…

The one I am asked about most often is my floating meditation.

Again tonight at the gym an onlooker inquired “How do you do that?”

I gladly explained after realizing this is yet another acquired skill I take for granted—

It’s about always keeping ample air in your lungs to create enough buoyancy to keep you afloat while mindfully meditating with every intricate detail of your senses you are able to experience in those moments.

Keep God’s Breath of Life inside of you and you can float peacefully for eternity.

Deep right?

Only if you expel all the air in your lungs, then you’ll sink deep like a lead weight to the bottom.

Or if you deny your Maker I suppose…

That causes an eternal sinking of sorts as well.

On a lighter note (pun intended) —

Shout Out to my beloved friend James at
Float State— If you ever desire to practice Floating Meditation with total sensory deprivation in a tank where no particular breathing is required to stay afloat due to the density of the salt water; check it out here:

I’ve been using the hashtag #healthymindbodysoul for a while now…
I shared it at a meeting last night.
Another person piggybacked onto the idea and exchanged the word “Spirit” for “Soul.” I liked it and started to wonder about the difference between the two concepts.

Naturally, I “Googled it.” ;)

From the website Christianity.com

I found the following explanation:

What Is the Difference Between a Soul and a Spirit?

Soul definition: the soul is our humanity that makes us feel emotions The spirit is our deeper connection with the Lord when we believe in God and receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Let's dig deeper into the difference.

Source: Christianity.com

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12

“And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell."
Matthew 10:28

No man can kill our soul.

Although they can kill our bodies, they cannot do anything personally to affect our souls.

“Behold, all souls are mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is mine: the soul who sins shall die."
Ezekiel 18:4

Souls belong to the Lord. He created them when he created us.

“For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul.”
Matthew 16:26

So now I may start adding a new hashtag—-
#healthymindbodyspirit

It’s the little things in life.  And although a hashtag on social media is a little thing, the well being of our soul or spirit is clearly not a little thing at all.  THIS in connection with God is arguably the most important thing of all.

Do you agree?
Would love to hear your thoughts on this topic!
